The design on these plates was made by applying black slip over the entire surface of the plate and then carefully carving it away where I wanted the white to show.

Porcelain Chopstick Bowl

3.25" tall x 7.5" wide

Underglaze was applied when piece was almost bone dry, and then carved through very carefully to get a great textured feel with lots of visual appeal. Outside was left unglazed to maximize texture, and interior is glazed a glossy black. Great for anything that you would eat with chopsticks...noodles, stirfry, rice, asian style soups, etc.

Delicately incised and decorated with black slip. Interior is painted with black slip, and then a subtle celadon glaze was applied inside and out.

Translucent Porcelain Carved Tumblers

Left one is 3 5/8" tall x 3 1/8" wide. Middle one is 3.25" tall x 2.75" wide. Righ one is 3.75" tall x 3 1/8" wide.

These were thrown very thin, and then carved so that light will pass through them.

Glaze is non-toxic, lead free, and food safe. Microwave and dishwasher safe, though with their delicate nature, handwashing is recommended.
